My friend Gustavo send a message about How to Pin Lotus Notes 8.5.1

1 - Close your Notes and change the name of the notes.exe to notes.exe.exe

2 - Click on it and Pin the file

3 - Rename back to notes.exe

Gustavo um amigo meu enviou esta dica de como fazer o Pin do Lotus Notes 8.5.1

1- abrir o diretorio do notes e localizar o "notes.exe"
2- renomear o "notes.exe" para "notes.exe.exe"
3- mandar fixá-lo na area de trabalho - ele vai!!!!
4- renomear novamente para "notes.exe"

"You install Lotus Notes on a 64-bit Operating System, such as Windows 7 x64, but notice that the Notes Single Login feature, which synchronizes Windows passwords with the Notes ID, does not work.

This has been reported to quality engineering under SPR # JZJZ7XA7FS, and has been determined to be working as designed. On a 64-bit OS, it is suggested to use Notes Shared Login, a new form of password suppression set in place by a Domino Policy. "

NSFDB2 is in limited availability starting with IBM® Lotus® Domino® 8.5.2. The limited availability of NSFDB2 will require a software license key for customers to continue using the feature. Access to the software license key will be restricted and supplied via an escalated PMR that is granted IBM Executive Approval. Before upgrading to IBM® Lotus® Domino® 8.5.2 it is strongly recommended to migrate NSFDB2 databases back to NSF.....

Why communication is important.

It all started when I forgot my cell phone battery charger. He hung up around 5:30 pm.
My wife, who does not use Sametime, Twitter, MSN needed to talk to me. I was online until 6:00 pm.
The result of the lack of communication:
I needed to buy paint to complete the reform of the living room. Only know after arriving home.
What cost me two hours looking for a shop selling custom paint we use.
If she uses up something besides the phone I would have solved everything in 30 minutes and spent 50% of value.
Never forget the battery charger.

Por que comunicação é importante.

Tudo começou quando eu esqueci meu carregado de baterias telefone celular. Ele se desligou por volta de 5:30 pm.
Minha esposa, que não usa Sametime, Twitter, MSN precisava falar comigo. Eu estava online até 6:00 pm.
O resultado da falta de comunicação:
Eu precisava comprar tinta para completar a reforma da sala de estar após chegar em casa, o que me custou 2 horas procurando uma loja que vendia a tinta personalizada que usamos. Paguei mais caro mas consegui resolver.
Se ela usa-se alguma coisa além do telefone, mesmo um e-mail, eu teria resolvido tudo em 30 minutos e gastado 50% do valor.
Nunca esqueça o carregador de baterias.

How to Change Cache.ndk File Size Limit

There are two ways to change the Cache.ndk file size limit. One is through the Workspace and the other is through the use of a Notes.ini parameter.

If you right click on the Workspace and select Workspace Properties it will bring up the property box as seen above.

Select the beanie tab and you can change the Cache Size in MB.

This also correlates to a Notes.ini parameter:
UserSetCacheQuota=1
UserCacheQuotaSize=153600 (value of 150 MB as shown above)

This allows for a larger cache.ndk file size which can reduce issues seen if the default 30MB limit is insufficient.

Lotus Notes Cannot be Pinned To Windows 7 Task Bar

First issue: 1. Install Lotus Notes 8.5.1 with Fix Pack 1 Standard configuration 2. Open the Start menu and go to Lotus Notes 3. Right-click the Lotus Notes icon and select the menu function "Pin to task bar" Error: the application icon of Lotus Notesnow doesn't appear in the task bar. Second issue: 1. Start Lotus Notes 2. Right-click the application icon at the task bar. Error: The menu function "Pin to task bar" is missing. Compare with other MS and non MS applications.

Web SSO unexpectedly stops working between WebSphere 6.1 and Domino based applications

Lotus Domino has been configured for Web Single Sign-On (SSO) with WebSphere Portal or WebSphere Application Server. SSO works correctly for several weeks, but unexpectedly Domino is no longer able to decode the LTPA token from WebSphere.

To avoid problems:

Disable automatic LTPA key generation on all servers of the single sign-on domain using the following steps:

1. Log on to the WebSphere Application Server administrative console.
2. Navigate to Security > Secure administration, applications, and infrastructure.
3. Click Authentication mechanisms and expiration.
4. Click Key generation - Key set groups.
5. Click NodeLTPAKeySetGroup.
6. Disable the Key generation - Automatically generate keys checkbox.
7. Click OK.
8. Click Save to save the changes to the master configuration.

Keyboard shortcut for sidebar access has been changed
In the Notes Help topic "General keyboard shortcuts", in the 'General shortcuts' table, the following shortcut should be changed as shown:

Shortcut	Description
Ctrl+Alt+S Ctrl+F7	Access the sidebar

Prior to Notes 8.5.2 Ctrl+Alt+S was supported, however there were keyboard conflicts with other languages, so this support has been removed; now use Ctrl+F7 to access the sidebar with the keyboard.

Incorrect keyboard command for Open List
In the help topic "Accessibility features for Notes", in the section 'Enable keyboard navigation of the bookmarks list', the following statement needs to be corrected as shown:

Press Ctrl+Alt+B Alt+B to display the Open menu where you can use the keyboard to access and navigate your bookmarks list.

Additionally, in the help topic "General keyboard shortcuts", the following statement in Table 1 also needs to be corrected:

Last saturday i upgraded one Domino Server with a lot of enterprise applications from 7.0.3 to 8.5.1 FP3 IF1,. The server is very critical for my client business.
Everthing works fine until we start to test several applications. We detect a problem with ODBC connections to MS SQLServer databases (DB2 works fine).
Domino can't "see" the DSN's and we can see a lot of connections erros, after some hours of investigation we found the problem.
The Domino server isn't the 64 version but we are using Windows 2008 64.
When you register a DSN datasource using the icon on the control panel the DSN, a system DSN is only visible for 64 bit process (see this TN from MS Knowledge base).

Following the "workaround" section of the MS TN, the applications work's well.

"To work around this problem, use the appropriate version of the ODBC Administrator tool. If you build and then run an application as a 32-bit application on a 64-bit operating system, you must create the ODBC data source by using the ODBC Administrator tool in %windir%\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe. To indicate the type of DSN, you can add "_32" to the 32-bit user DSNs and "_64" to the 64-bit user DSNs "

Today i got certified in Lotus Quickr 8.1 Administration.
I work for a BP in Brazil and every partner, who want's, to sell Quickr, Sametime or Connections, must have technical certifications and sale certification.

The next certification will be Sametime Administrator.

Reading something about LDAP and i found this redbook:

When deciding on suffixes, where a suffix is the root DN of a directory tree, it is a good idea to use the same naming structure for LDAP as is used for X.500. Using the X.500 methodology would lead to choosing a suffix like o=ibm,c=us or ou=raleigh,o=ibm.

This method will set the root of the directory tree to a specific organization in a specific country or to a specific organization and organizational unit. However, it is not necessary to do this, unless there are plans to participate in an X.500 directory service, since LDAP does not require any specific format for the DN naming convention. In LDAP, the directory suffix can be chosen freely to reflect the organizations distinct name. Another method that you can use, if the X.500 method does not seem appropriate, is the DNS naming model when choosing the directory suffix. This would result in a suffix using the domainComponent attribute, for example, dc=server,dc=company,dc=com.
